Haven Holidays launch partnership with the RNLI to save lives at sea

Leading family holiday company, Haven, has partnered with the charity that saves lives at sea, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), for a minimum of three years. The partnership, which officially launches on March 26, will see the RNLI become Haven’s exclusive national charity partner. Both organisations are part of the fabric of British holidays and trips to the coast, which means they are perfectly placed to share vital water safety messages.

The partnership aims to fully integrate the RNLI with the Haven offering across their 36 award-winning family holiday parks, supporting Haven’s ‘Safe & Secure’ attitude towards water and beach activities. In 2018, Haven will be proactively supporting the RNLI’s Mayday and Fish Supper fundraising campaigns through a combination of engaging on-site events and adventurous activities aimed at encouraging families to discover more about the importance of beach safety.

NEW FOR 2018 This year, Haven is introducing a brand-new activity created with the RNLI called ‘Coastal Explorer’ as part of its popular Nature Rockz programme across all 36 holiday parks. This free activity gives holidaymakers the opportunity to take part in an expert guided beach safety session led by Haven’s experienced coastal rangers. This activity will be available from May 1.

In 2017, we welcomed over 2.6m holidaymakers to our holiday parks, many travelling from inland towns and cities. This partnership gives us a huge opportunity to share vital water safety messaging with all our guests.”

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. Every day, its 238 volunteer lifeboat crews are on call to help people in danger in the water. And, through the holiday season, RNLI lifeguards patrol more than 240 British beaches to keep people safe. All year round, the charity works with communities across the UK and Ireland, explaining the risks and sharing safety advice to prevent tragedies on and offshore.

Leesa Harwood, Director of Community Lifesaving at the RNLI, says, “Our partnership with Haven is an exciting opportunity to talk with thousands of families enjoying coastal holidays about safety around the water. Our volunteers and staff will be working alongside the Haven team at holiday parks and around the coast to create fun family activities, share essential safety advice and raise money to support our ongoing drowning prevention and lifesaving work.”

Bourne Leisure Limited

As part of the Bourne Leisure Ltd Group Haven holidays is part of Bourne Leisure Ltd who also own Warner Leisure Hotels and Butlins Resorts.Now the largest privately owned holiday operator in the UK, Bourne Leisure Ltd started over 40 years ago with one caravan park. With a continuous investment programme, the business has grown not only in the number of parks owned but also in the size and quality of the businesses and amenities provided for our guests and owners. Bourne Leisure Ltd live by their mission statement (see below) and in 2000 they bought the Rank Group Holidays Division which included the Haven brand.Adding Haven holidays to the Bourne Leisure Ltd portfolio extended the choice of top quality parks and locations available to families. Some of the smaller parks were sold but the larger parks have been kept and over the last ten years have enjoyed being part of the rolling investment programme which includes providing new accommodation, landscaping, spas, golf courses, adventure golf and most recently enhancing some of the leisure pools with flumes, slides and Space Bowls.

British Travel Awards

All 36 parks offer heated indoor and outdoor pools, daytime and evening entertainment, activities, children’s clubs and a variety of attractions that range from fishing lakes to climbing walls. Haven parks also make a fantastic (and very affordable) base for exploring the local area with superb locations close to some of the UK’s most beautiful beaches, resorts and countryside.

Haven holidays was named in the British Travel Awards 2014 as the winner of Best UK Holiday Park Operator and Best Large Camping and mobile Tour Operator. Companies were nominated by the public and then voted by consumers in what has been the largest awards programme in the UK this year. The BTAs were created to reward the best companies in travel and are recognised by consumers and travel professionals throughout the UK. With categories spanning 75 types of holiday experience - The British Travel Awards is quite simply the benchmark for excellence when it comes to finding out who really is the best in the business.Haven was awarded the 2014 Travel Bulletin Holiday Parks Operator of the year award, and for two years in a row we have been awarded Best Domestic Operator of the Year at the TTG Travel awards. All of our parks hold Conservation Awards.
